Tough Decision... power or cosmetic mods
I'm deciding if I should go for power or for cosmetics on my car. I currently have my car dropped on kw v3's, a muffler delete, angel eyes, and a few more small things. I am having trouble deciding if i should get new tires and rims or if I should upgrade the power of my car. I'm still on my stock 18's and stock run flats. If I were to go for power, I would be getting a jb4, downpipe, and intake. So what is it? Should I go with new rims and tires? Or power?
I only have a choice of one of the two even though the prices are very different. Thanks, Jake |

I voted for show and not go!
You already have a 335....fast! You have dropped it. But a drop on stock rims, 18"s at that, to me, would look off. Get some show now...and when you really get bored of the power....later on you can ratchet it up with the JB4. Your wallet my thank you for the show and not go...think of the speeding tickets you might get! |

The 335 has plenty of power that you'll never really be able to use. Put the power down with upgraded wheels and rubber. You get a twofer, looks and handling with the wheels & tire upgrade.

I see you have a 335 M-Sport. I consider the 193m to be really nice wheels to begin with, so personally I'd go for either power or coilovers.

Cosmetic before power IMO. It's nice to have more power, but the 335i comes with plenty stock. Get some nice Wheels/tires and your car will stand out. Once you have that done, you can have some fun with performance mods...

If you're like me and have a 80+ mile commute everyday, then power first (you already have some cosmetic). I say power first b/c you're driving the car, not looking at it. You might as well enjoy it to it's fullest when you're spending that much time behind the wheel.
If you're just driving around town, being "seen" etc. Then go cosmetic by all means.

If you track your car power is a must, but if you want to stand out from the rest cosmetics is the way to go. THINK...How fast and how long can you go with your car on the streets? I don't think you can use all your ponies that you car came out on regular roads.

Wheels and tires are not cosmetic mods. While they do change the look, they primarily affect ride, handling, traction, etc.
Also, IMHO, you need higher performance wheels/tires to get the most from engine/power mods. Like putting your body on steroids, but running in flip flops. So if you can't accompany the power mods with new wheels, you are wasting part o your money. Therefore, new wheels and tires is a better way to go. |

Buy rims. And like someone else said, quality wheels ARE a performance upgrade. Buy the lightest, strongest wheels that you can afford and don't get ridiculous with the sizes. I went with a TSW Nurburgring in 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear.

ask yourself this: do you enjoy driving it more our do you enjoy looking at it and be seen in it more? there is no wrong answer.
