Leaky roof on my E93 335

Big rainstorm in toronto a couple weeks ago. My roof was leaking.
They replaced the seal, they say no more leaking.

There was a 328 E93 in the shop for a leak at the identical spot.

Any other E93's out there have a leak>

This is probably pretty common. I remember American cars always had problems with T-top roofs leaking the first production year... until they figured out where the seals needed to be improved.

The leak was just above the driver side window, toward the front of the window, coming from inside the seam.
It was a constant drip.
The dealership confirmed the leak.

After the rain we have had over the last couple of weeks in UK it has given the vert a good water test. No leaks at present but thanks for the information another thing to look out for on our verts.

Drives side A pillar leak

Just took delivery of my '08 335 cab. Two car washes confirm that I too have this "A" pillar/ Window seam leak by the drivers door. I'll report back on what the dealer does about it.

Wink Driver Side water leak

Dealer response to my problem and I quote:

"The car is to be hand washed only, if you go through a car wash it will leak. In the owners manual it will give instruction on how to wash properly."

And, thanks to this forum my complaint had more credibility so for round 2 they have agreed to investigate.
More later.

I had my front seal replaced under warranty and it leaks exactly the same as before while in a touchless car wash - a few drops at the A-pillar on the passenger side and a little bit more on the driver's side. I guess this is just the way it is. The dealer gave me exactly the same warning about touchless car wash when I took delivery in the summer. They also warn me that the two parcel panels on the two sides of the trunk near the rear bumper will get wet too once in awhile and that's due to the way the roof drainage is designed.

A quick update from my recent dealer inspection of the drivers side A pillar leak. Their inspection came up with no findings... I immediately headed to the car wash and now find both sides have the same slow water drip afterward. At least now I have the start of a documentation trail.
More later as this adventure unfolds.

I have never had a leak through torrential rains and washes. What this says to me is that when the roof is assembled properly, it works perfectly. I hope your dealer knows how to do it right and trust me it won't leak at all.

I haven't had any leaks in the top of my 'vert... yet.

But that statement may have just jinxed me.

Good thing I live in a desert!

Leaks or not, a hardtop will never give you open sky at night, the warm breeze enveloping you as you listen to the sonorous music of 6,000 RPM.

Although, I wouldn't mind a cloth top option. But then you can't shut the top and have an extremely quiet hard top experience ever.

I guess it all comes down to personal preference. I prefer a more performance oriented car, so the hardtop, with it's stiffer chasis would be my choice. I find the hardtop looks nicer too. Plus a moonroof is enough for me!
