PDA/Phone Combo - Looking to Upgrade, need advice
I currently own a Dell X51v PDA and a Samsung cell (not sure model). I'd like to get rid of my PDA (which I hate) and phone (not bad, just no BT), to purchase a compatible bluetooth combo phone/PDA.
My PDA, while having one of the fastest CPUs available, has the newest Pocket PC o/s which makes it extremely slow. I want something I can run all of my medical apps on, quickly and preferably with a keypad on surface. The phone's features aren't so important - bluetooth, and the standard phonebook things are all I care about. I'd prefer to stay with T-Mobile - unlocks are no problem. Also, it doesn't have to be current gen, 1 back or so is fine. I'm open for Palm (Treo, etc). Would be open for Blackberry, but I don't think there are medical apps available on it (correct?). So, if possible, I'd like to find something that fits my criteria before the 335 arrives. Thanks for any input.

I'm waiting for the new Motorola Q 9, one version will run on AT&T, the other on Verizon. It runs Windows Mobile 6.0, so should be able to run many apps.
The rumor sites are talking about an August release.

Nah. I need something with quick buttons on the outside, not touch only. Also, I'm not sure what medical apps will be available on it. Oh yeah, and I can't justify that price.

What I do greatly like over the original Q is the Q9h has a whole slew of application hardkeys scattered around the edges of the keyboard: There are hard-keys for browser and messaging near the softkeys that look like most Motorola phones, then there are keys on the bottom for calendar, contacts, media player, and camera. These allow for a good amount of home-screen-uncluttering with plenty of room for user-app shortcuts. Plus, GPS should be all kinds of handy. From the pictures I've seen of the Verizon Q9, it doesn't have nearly as many buttons. compare: Q9h (AT&T) vs Q9m (Verizon). |
