Just hardwired my radar detector

Just finished hardwiring my Escort 8500 X50. I mounted it higher up so it's more discret... i know some members here are gonna tell me that's a bad spot cause it won't pick up laser signals as well.... I followed the DIY here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=29 and it was great help! the hardest part of all was removing that damn domn light panel!! but everything else was easy as cake!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if you hardwire your passport, does that mean you're losing access to the mute button? Because I use the mute button all the time. Freaking passport goes off for everything.

i just got it today, so haven't spent a lot of time using it yet, but i've been doing a lot of research and it's known as one of the best. 9500 is a newer release but i didn't feel like spending an extra $150!

no, no mute button, but i spent about 30 minutes driving around after the install and didn't get any false alarms.

Curious as to why you spent alittle more to get the blue led one. I figured most people would get the red since it is a bit cheaper and matches with the orange interior lighting.

Nice mod nonetheless. I had a x50 and never had a problem with it.

there is a mute button. It's in the front, next to the LEDs, easily accessible.

you know what, i know which button you're talking about, but i tried it and it didn't work. only time that mute button works is when it's plugged in with the orignal cord.
