Cut hole in roof, glue some glass in. Piece of piss!

Oh wait...

If you fuck it up, wonder what the part number is for a new roof?!

I wonder if I could retrofit the coupe bit or an E92 onto my car?

missus has seen one with a panoramic in and liked it. just thought maybe webasto or someone might do them.to be honest I dont think you need one with aircon and past experience says they always leak.

Don't see whats so funny about someone wanting a sun roof?

It's not like it's never been done before.

Your best bet is to call some local shops and see if they're willing to take the challenge.

Ohh nothing, just your little harder than your average retrofit lci lights.

Wonder what you going to tell insurance when you declare mod??

Some useful advice to the op! For the money and time involve and hassle. You probably can buy a car with a sunroof!

Not something I would (if I liked sunroofs, which I don't) want to risk.

I did this to a Honda Accord many years ago and regretted it immediatelly because the car started to creak whenever the body tried to flex - don't do it!

Jesus, don't do it! As nice as having a sunroof is, are you really going to let someone "have a go" at fitting one?!

Indeed it would be possible, have seen it done myself to other cars but not a full tilt and slide roof, it is just a case of a tilt or remove glass panel.

Panoramic roof is a superb option, then I would say so, I have one.

But as to cutting the roof and fitting a sun roof, they were all the rage years ago. I've personally fitted a roof to a customer car when in the bodyshop business. No issues to car integrity, or any leaks.

I wouldn't do it to an E91, but nothing wrong in the concept.

I was looking at this a while back and my local installer said no due to the B-post cross roof bracing which can't be cut on the E91.

He said it is part of the side impact protection 'system' strengthening. Interestingly the parts diagrams available online inferred that later models, 2007ish, don't have this, anybody know if that is so?

I actually think it would be good if you could as I love open top driving and a Webasto style roof on a BMW would be great to have.

I think this is a bonkers idea on so many levels.

In addition, I wouldn't buy a used 3 series with a retrofitted sunroof in a million years.
