Non RFT recommendations??

Hi All,

Im finally at the stage where at least my rear RFT's are due to be replaced, im desperate to get them off, particularly now I have had the ECU remapped, its getting increasingly harder to actually get my 'new' power down! Can anyone give me their recommendations for front (225 40 18) and rear (255 35 18)?

I think most folks on here recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) or Continental Contact 3 from the premium boys and Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta or Hankook V12s as the sub-£100 but pretty much as good cheaper alternatives...

I'll have all four corners shoed up in V12s this time next week

(Based on past experience, I truly wish you could get Bridgestone RE070s in our sizes, by far the best tyre I've ever had on a car and the very same one that is fitted to the mighty Nissan GTR as standard... I had them on my Integra DC5

)

I ran a set of falken 452's through the winter

But my tyre of choice at the moment, conti sport 5p
265 30 19 rear
235 35 19 front

Great mix of durability, grip, wear and all weather performance

i went for falkens circa 3 months ago, ive been really impressed with then, great in wet or dry, reasonably quiet, improved comfort.

i see no reason to spend anymore, but ive not tried the premium brands either, so I dont know the difference.

Have also a look at Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 if the price suits you.

My car wear's them for the last 25000kms (almost a year ago) and I 'm more than pleased from the overall experience especially on wet roads (I can't remember when it was the last time I didn't feel confident passing through transversely running water in the A1 with 130km/h - minimal aguaplanning). Also good to mention is the life span of them so far (the rubber felt so soft compared to the Bridge-Stones RFTs).

I've had Falken 452s before and couldnt fault them.

I see Bridgestone runflats are now £275 for rears on Blackcircles. WTF!

I can see why you want non-runflats.

Dont seem to be able to get Michelin Pilot Sport 2 on Blackcircles - are they an old tyre? You can get Michelin Pilot Sport 3 for £210, I guess they are a newer, better tyre?

vreds on mine!...similar performance in the dry to the re050...but better grip in the wet when compared to the re050...

had a passenger ride in a dc5 on re070 and the grip was extremely good. It was dry tho.

For value for money....vreds way forward!

I got the same set up for summer the contis are great all rounder. I ran conti sport winter contact 275 cross section on the rears through winter and made a huge difference (still on now). Although in the 18s for the o.p I reccomend p zeros and the ps2. the ps2 lasted a lot longer.

Very pleased with the dry & wet weather grip of my Vred Sessanta Ultracs, so much better than the OEM Michelin pilot Sport RFTs I had before; hardly ever see the traction control light coming on now.

I've used Vredestein Sessanta and would happily again, they are great in all conditions and especially the wet.

Currently have Conti 5sp on, very impressed with feel and grip and also very surefooted in the wet! A little noiser than I had hoped but nothing I can't cope with.

Sorry to bump this thread back up - just wondering which supplier you guys used for the Vreds? Also considering the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos but there are a lot of votes for Vreds here ...

Can see them on camskill but not sure if there is an alternative that people tend to go for...

Aren't Vred ultrac sessanta's a cheap middling fuel economy motorway tyre?

Wouldn't put them on a wheel barrow.

No way they could even share the same room with an Ultra HP Conti 5P.....

Conti 5P or 3 all the way IMO.

Mich PS2 are prob better in the dry, but they don't do a rear 255/35/18 PS2 in NON RFT.

Your opinion, hopefully based on experience, but compared with the PREMIUM Bodgestone runflat crap that BMW supplies as standard they are at minimum a 100% improvement for a whole lot less cash than either with, in my opinion and experience, very good wet and dry performance....
