So..I was bored today and had some free time..
I have the wood trim with gray interior, so Im not a huge fan of it.
EDIT: Just finished today =) looks great! Now where my passenger handle is peeling, it peels to black so im just going to peel it all off hopefully. and probably my driver door cup handle thingy..it peels away to black also and they both have wear and tear. I didnt remove the plasti dip off the aluminum ash tray line, becahse it flares out kinda if you do, so maybe ill try if i can find a razor blade. earlier today...! a few hours ago! Only got the door trim and the center panel Idrive trim done today, please tell me what you think! I can have better pictures tomorrow. try not to hurt my feelings either please Last edited by TheTal0n; 05-05-2012 at 07:55 PM.. |

I used plasti dip! Stuff really is amazing. holds up well. unless you did your door handle or somthing that gets abused every day. |

Im pretty happy it turned out so well, was either this or carbon fiber wrap, but my friend brought over the plasti dip and couldnt resist trying it on a door panel trim. then it went from there haha. |

I'm a big plasti-dip advocate. That stuff is the Duct Tape of paint, lol.
I never really thought about doing the interior, though -- seems like it would flake or chip pretty easily given the abuse that interior trim pieces can take. Let us know how it holds up. Looks very cool! Matte black is always a win in my book

It really does stay on for a while if you want it to, My friend did his rims on his SRT4 and we sprayed it with high pressure water, not even a tear or chip in it, and when its dried it has a really nice finish, small sparkles..women love sparkles so hopefully this new trim will help me with the ladies.

No need to think ur gona be flamed...hell bmw uses plasti dip crap themselves lol...Stupid consoles specially on E46's. Anyways the huge advantage on that is on trim you can pull it off should u not like it anymore.

Looks great, I honestly thought it was vinyl wrap. Plasti-dip is a great product, I used it on my grilles on my e30 and at some point will use it on the chrome door trim.

I think that it looks great and that using plasti dip is actually really smart. That way you can change it up as often as you'd like and when you go to sell it your wood looks like new (insert joke here lol)!

Looks good! I used plasti dip on my e46 grills, 2 1/2 years later they look as good as the day I sprayed them.
How many coats did you use? No sanding, right? Any prep besides cleaning the surface before spraying? |
