Help My car has been over heating 07 328xi
the shop thought it would be the thermostat so they changed it and its still having the same problem....ill drive about 60 and the yellow thermostat comes come...ill pull over and it'll turn red..my fan also goes into overdrive mode and gets real loud. i drive an 07 328xi and ive neer had a problem with it in the 120k miles ive put on it...please help

ive driven the car about 100 miles with this overheating problem but i stop the car to let it cool down...im going to get the waer pump changed...is all this driving going to be a permanent problem?

If you stopped and let it cool down when you got the warning, most probably nothing permanent happened.

It could be the radiator or the fan to.
It could be the radiator or the fan to.
Try to find the root cause if you can. Have you been doing radiator fluid changes and flushes on a timely basis. I think Mike Miller recommended a total cooling system rebuild at around 100k. |

OP, did the car go into limp mode when the light came on? You should not drive it any further until you get the water pump replaced. Have it towed to whatever shop you do business with.
And I have to ask: how did you put 120k miles on a 2007 vehicle? That's a lot of driving. |

If they replaced the thermostat, lost some fluid and didn't bleed it properly upon refilling there could be air trapped in the system. It needs to be bled. But water pump would also be a more likely scenario at that mileage. Clearly you have done a ton of highway miles which means higher rpm for longer durations which naturally will wear the pump out.
