Head to Halfords on your way back pal (or get them ordered now for delivery tomorrow from no1showplates). You'll need your cheque book too unless it's all covered within the retention price (think it is actually). MOT certificate & insurance too.

How the feck do I know . Call em.

You've got a period of grace so don't panic. Don't think the plod give a fuck but your insurers might (though I like think they'd be sensible about it).

If you know what text goes on the 'official' plate just tell no1showplates and they'll print them off. I did this with some of my plates (in advance). Just cribbed the text from the regtransfers plates I had made up and they were then legal. Sounds dodgy but its fine.

If you think about it, no1showplates, make show plates, but what makes them legal is the text at the bottom. They can do their own text but would need you to send them proof you own the plate. To save time I just cribbed other 'legal' text, they stuck it on, I knew they were legal as the text mirrored my other plates and I knew I owned the plate so was spared jail . Just sped up the process.

Hopefully my edited post helps.

Options -:

1) go to dealer with all documents and they'll sort you out (don't know if they'll do them as you wait - don't see why not)

2) get no1showplates to post you a set (to arrive tomorrow if you're quick) - mention this place to get a little discount - but you'll need to e-mail them proof you own the plate first which can delay things

3) get no1showplates to post you a set (to arrive tomorrow if you're quick) - mention this place to get a little discount - and provide them the text at the bottom of any other existing plate (even a dealer one), they'll add that text to the bottom, snd hey presto, a legal plate arrives next day with minimal effort from you

Oh, no1showplates will be half the price of the dealer supplied ones

If you mean with a BMW badge I'm not sure. The basic plate will be identical in contruction though, you choose if you want to funk it up with a flag or outline or anything, you'd have to check their websire or call them

I mean with dealers name at bottom etc. It has original supplying plates currently, I want to keep the origininality So want the supplying dealer to make the plates with their name at the bottom.

If no1showplates can replicate it exactly then Ill prob use them?!

Im more concerned about the DVLA side of it. I presume I can just rock up there and do the business?!

No show plate company will put a dealers stamp on the plates they make, if you want your plates made up with dealer stamps on them go to the dealer mate.

If it's just the text you're after they'll do it, but if they use a small BMW badge or something then doubtful (unless you want a chav one at the side). Like Guy says, if you're concerned, just head to the dealer.

...just checking photos of my old motors, the X3 had Statestone in a fancy font, so they wouldn't replicate that. I've no pictures of my others with the dealer plates on as I'd whipped my private plate on too fast.

Try not to turn up First or last couple of Days of the Month as they tend to be a lot busier with New Road Fund License Applications

No, the DVLA are perfectly happy to take as many £125's from you as you can afford
