335is Air Ducts...

So I have been going through a lot of the threads on here because I am thinking of doing a fog delete on my pre-lci e92. Most of the threads have not been updated in at least 6 months, and one of the main things left unfinished is: What do us pre-lci guys do to cover up the duct? The 335is covers are too large for the pre-lci bumper, and the two alternatives at the time were to either leave it open, or use the fog light mesh section without the fogs in, which I don't like. Has there been any solutions to this? I have read about 10 threads, all directing each other's back and forth, and never really found any answers. While leaving it open doesn't look bad, I don't want trash or something to get stuck in there? Any help? I am worried taking a center grill and fabricating my own covers won't look good. Thanks.

Would also like to know the answer to this. I would be fine with the same material as the center grille throughout.

Why don't you buy the 335is grilles and try retrofitting those in the front, the ducts will need to be trimmed and cut to fit and so also the grilles but I think it's do able by a good body shop, only thing is no body wants to spend 200 on the grille's and ducts and additional money to make them fit.

Finally a bump in the thread. I'm not a bump my own thread kind of guy. Anyway, I bought the ducts but still haven't put them on yet. I've been too lazy to take the bumper off and install them. Got them for about 35 each from my local BMW dealership here. Depending on what I can get the grilles for, I might try out the custom fit. Maybe run with leaving it open for a bit, or find a way to fit a screen on the back or something that won't be visible to at least keep debris out for now.

I bought this over the weekend.

Waiting for it to come in. Plan on taking out old mesh and fog lights and fabricating new mesh all the way across in polished black aluminum Diamond XXL. Will fasten this with the roll of wire to the old tabs on the factory bumper connector tabs. Will post pics when done.

I think tomorrow I will just go to an auto shop and look for a similar aftermarket grille... if I find something close, but not 100%, I might just replace the middle grille as well so it all matches. I don't want anything mismatched.

That's what I am doing with this. I was not able to find anything similar at an auto supply store. I plan to replace all 3 pieces. Only cost $66 shipped to me. Plan to remove fog lights because it blocks my new Dual Oil Cooler air flow.

Oh ok. For some reason I thought you were just replacing the fog mesh. Make sure you post when it's all set!

LOL. My grills are currently grey plastic mesh. These will be black polished aluminum. So obviously for symmetry I will replace all the way across including the center piece.

no, I meant actual custom fabricated grills. I know of a number of shops across the country that will fab up some grills for about $125

I would love to remove my fogs...they're useless and I can really use some type of air duct...either to the brakes or intake.

Has anyone here attempted this?

you don't already have ducts to the brakes? my E93 has ducts stock next to the fogs

They have very small ones... this will open them up atleast twice the size, and for a track run, that's A LOT of extra air flow.

As Bimmer said...

It'll be the removal of the fogs only to insert a larger air duct. Plus it'll look better without fogs. Like the MSport Front.

you should see how far away from the car the brake dust blows from 155mph to 85mph...the cloud will blow about 5 feet out. There is already a lot of air flow.

Op is looking for Pre-LCI, Alexgosh has an LCI 335is, those are simple, just order the E92 ducts - pre-LCI is much more difficult as there is not an OEM option, it would have to be custom.
