Do I deserve flaming?

I absolutely love the stock e92 exhaust, but want larger 3.5" tips. My BMW friends were telling me that putting tips on the stock exhaust would be the lamest thing I could do, that I might as well put an ///M badge on.

Should I suck it up and stick with the stock tips? Or are these guys just being sticklers. I don't want to come across as a poser, I just don't like the tips now, plus I already have a tune, intake and soon DPs.

As long as you like it, it shouldn't matter what other people think. Who cares? It's your car.

There is nothing wrong with putting larger tips on it, not even in the same category as putting an M badge on a non M.

I should clarify, as long as the tips don't look like this.....

I would like to take the liberty of saying your "friends" are complete idiots.
While you're at it, find some new ones

I have 4" Dimisa black powder coated tips on order, and God help the first person that mocks me to my face.

You have a 335 or 328? Either way, debadge, put an M emblem, and a M3 exhaust. It's not lame if you tell yourself it's an M. People buy a factory M sport package and tell themselves they have the right to have an M emblem, so you do too.

When do you graduate from high school???
Make your own decision, get out from your vaginal cocoon and stop worrying too much about what others think about your ride. Be your own person and not what your peers tell you to be, stop being society's bitch.

To the OP though, BMW friends? If you find tips you think will enhance the rear look of your car, weld them bitches on. Unless you are thinking about some Pepboys special, it sounds like your car buddies are just whining for no reason.

I don't see any problem with putting tips on the stock exhaust. I am planning to do so in the future.

Do what you want....I put on caliper covers which drives a lot of the BMW purest guys nutz.

I am an old fart & one thing I learned over & over again during the years is no matter what you do some one will find a reason to dislike or criticize it. Line of a song that fits well & is great advice, “you can’t please everyone, so just please yourself”

If you don't mind me chiming in, here is my two cents.
Like someone said earlier BMW is slapping m logos all over m sport package cars now (including my 335 and even the 328!).
Do you think I or they give a fuck? No. Not only does it look great outside but the m steering wheel is a must have as well.
In my opinion it is a 3 series after all, BMW knows this and so does everyone else with reasonable logic and not afflicted by the m marketing team. 328i/335i/s or M3 are basically 90% identical to each other. I can admit, although itd be a stretch in my budget I could afford the m3 and the is but I chose 335. Anyone can walk in and buy it, it's a 3 series not a Ferrari Enzo. A TON of people own an m3 and and many many more could afford to buy one. It is an amazing car (arguably almost perfect all around) but it does not grant the driver any special status (like BMW knows and the marketing team works to differentiate) It's not nearly exotic enough for all the claims on this forum of posers etc. If you want to add m performance mods to a 3 go ahead, just don't put an m3 badge in the rear (that should be obvious). And as far as black tips, why haven't you done it yet? Do you really let other people decide how your 3 should look for you? Fuck that. I know I didn't spend nearly 60k to be afraid to "disrespect the m3 status" so yo speak, which is really no achievement in the first place unless your sixteen. And 'regardless m3 look is not my goal and I dont want to mimic anything about it. I personally would consider an Aston Martin for status symbol car not an m3 which I see a ton of everyday around town.

90% the same? Try more like 50% (or less) part similarity. It's virtually an entire different car.

It's your car bro, do whatever you want to do with it.
IMHO, only thing that is considered UNacceptable is that putting m3 badge on non m3 3series... how do i know? It looks like pure stock 328 but with m3 badge... I mean m logo is alright, but m3 badge? comon! >
when i used to drive TL, I hated seeing people with type S logo on their regular TL with chrome wheels on their cars... sigh memory...

I'm sure someone has said it, i skipped all the reading, but plenty of people stick some Cyba tips on their stock exhaust. You can't go wrong with anything he has. Go check out the vendor section.
