Ethanol question
Just wondering... A lot of people are mixing there fuel with e85. From post I have read I understand that ethanol is a big no no with our cars (n54 engine). I do also understand that e85 will get you more power. Just wondering if someone can elaborate on this for me.

E85 doesn't give more power, it's actually around 25% less, and nets you 25% less MPG.
The only way E85 is "better" is for people that do custom setups. E85 acts like high octane fuel, so they can push more boost without detonation, but you need to be spraying a lot more fuel to compensate. My guess in a direct injector turbo like the N54, using E85 without the car knowing WTF it's burning would probably end in a nasty situation. |
