When Will The Value Of E9x Drop?
In the next 3-4 months I am looking to pick up either a 328 or 335. However today I thought to myself maybe I should wait longer because with the new generation prices should drop considerably.
For those of you who have been bimmer enthuisast for a long time how long did it take for the e46 prices to drop after the e9x models came out? Chances are I will drive the e9x for years but if I buy one this summer at 19-21k and by the fall the same car could of been bought for 13-17k i will be pissed lol. |

Never, the e9x is the best BMW of all time. Mine is still valued at retail (in my heart).

When the coupe comes out... the values will tank. Look at how much a 2011 335i with 10K miles costs right now... it's essentially a brand new car that was purchased for $55k that can be had for 37-38K now. That's what the introduction of a new generation does.

I recently got an 09 328i with 45,000mi for $19,500.
Carmax and Cars.com currently has 09-10 335i in the $20-$30k range. Remember that BMW has the best resale value holding of any Luxury brand, and is #2 overall second only to Subaru. I wouldnt expect a huge drop.

IMO, the E9x series of BMW's will never be forgotten, just as the E46 will never be. I am sure alot of members here will agree with me.
Too much has happened within this great period for BMW. The amazing N54 tuneability, the never-to-be-forgotten V8 in the M3 (First and sadly, last for the M3), as well as the reliable and smooth NA I6's in the 325/28/30. Sadly, the days of the NA I6 look to be gone Anyway, probably around when the F32 is released, OP |

My car has like 12k miles on it, 2009 335 coupe m sport, loaded. Got it delivered in june 09 I haven't looked at prices recently but im guessing its worth little less than 40k, so figure min of 15k drop already. idk how that holds up against other cars but it is a depreciating asset nonetheless.

In all seriousness, I think the N52 E90's are going to hold value now that they are essentially the last of the naturally aspriated in-line sixes. The N54/55 will drop some since that engine is carried over to the F30.

If you wait for the value to drop, you will always be waiting. Because by the time it drops, you will want the next newer thing. Life is short, enjoy it.

Let's safely assume the car is depreciating 11% every yr (6k) Take into possible finance rates one also takes on(0.9% for me) + inflation rates, and you quickly come to the conclusion that your just throwing away money. Which is fine I bought it knowing that, but how does this compare with other vehicles is the q the op really wants to know

Audi is notorious for nose diving once you drive the four rings off the lot, hence their lease deals are not attractive at all. Infiniti, on the other hand, has a very attractive lease offers leading to believe they hold their resale value pretty good in the first 3-years of ownership. |
