cabin filter and intake silncer replacement

my service shop is telling me i need to replace my canin filter and the intake silencer filter. are these things that can be done on my own?

does anyone have any experiance with this

ps. what is an intake silencer

2006 330i  [0.00]
Cabin filter is extremely easy to replace. Under the hood there are three snaps on a long rectangular box. Filter is inside, downside to this, is it costs about 40-50 bucks.

what about the intake silencer, I'm not sure if that is the filter for the intake or not
