drove 0.5 mile with parking brake on

Hello,

I drove about a 0.5 mile with my parking brake on. And then i noticed that the indicator was on (i did not hear the chiming sound at any point). When i reached home i tried to check why the chiming sound was not on, but now neither do i see the indicator on nor the chiming sound when i tried to drive 0.5 meter. What do you guys think I have damaged here? have i blown a fuse, or have i hit something on the option panel which has disengaged this option or have i destroyed the brake sensor or ...?

If you didn't notice it it must not have been engaged very far. I honestly wouldn't worry about it if it still holds the car. Next service mention it, no biggie really.

I have had an instance where my mother drove approximately 10 miles + with her parking brake "engaged". This was on an older car w/o any warning lights.. etc. You will be able to smell it for sure! And it will be smoking since its sooo hot. Had to replace it along with a few other things as it melted/welded to the rotor...

Yeah the heat building up may cause some damage. It's usually a case where it's not really engaged fully but pulled up a click so that the light shows up on the dash but it's not noticible (feeling while driving).

I can't see how you would not notice if it was fully engaged. I mean... the car just wouldn't go very well.

thanks for the replies guys,

i have figured that the brake was not fully engaged, else I would have had difficulty driving it even 10 feet. i realised it when i saw the stick engaged (there was no chime, no warningng light on the dashboard). since i was at a traffic light, i could not pull up to check

do you think the chime and the warning light are broken? i checked when i returned home, the ebrakes are engaging and the car won't move when i have it engaged, so does that mean the brake is ok? what its he worst case scenario?
