Should I Buy?
Hello Everyone, I have been lurking on this site for years and hope to become an owner myself really soon. I am looking at a 2006 BMW e90 325i sedan with sport in my area with about 180000kms or 111847miles (give or take) highway miles on the clock. I am wondering what would generally be considered high mileage on these vehicles. What sorts of problems start happening around this mileage? Is this a vehicle that I should consider or stay far far away? I have been searching through forums but have not found any concise information. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

That's a high mileage car. They can be "proactively maintained" to keep running, but it's not a cheap/no worries car at that point in its life. Parts and labor are both a bit premium. |

Thanks for the comments guys. I have been debating whether to buy a cheaper high mileage e90 and do the maintenance or spend the extra and get a e90 with lower miles. I have a friend who still daily drives a pre-facelift e39 with over 140k miles and it has has been extremely reliable and no major maintenance items have needed replacing yet. I wasn't sure how the e90's would stack up against mileage like that based on the increased number of electrical components on the e90. Just more expensive things to go wrong that I can't fix myself.

No thanks. Take the money you'd spend on maintenance and get something newer.

Thanks guys. Don't worry, I will not be purchasing the car. I was just exploring all options. I have been looking around for information on when regular maintenance (service intervals) should be completed on these e90's. As well is there information somewhere that someone has compiled together that shows at what mileage specific things start go wrong with e90's (at what mileage parts start to fail)? Thanks for your comments.

lol you guys are funny
111k is not a lot for these engines my friend's E30 has over 300,000 miles and still runs strong OP, try negotiating price a little, $12K is kinda too much The water pump and AC compressor have tendency to fail at 70,000-130,000..Water pump = $400, AC compressor new $600 OEM My friend's 330i has a little over 60,000miles and his water pump just went out
