Logic7 stereo that bad?
I just ordered my 335i and I'm wondering how the stereo sounds in comparison to other stock stereos. My previous Nissan Maxima had a Bose stereo and it was sufficient for my needs. The thing I liked about it was that it was able to put out sufficient bass at low volumes, yet I could crank it up and it would still sound very clear. On the other hand my gf drives an RSX Type-S with a Bose stereo and I can barely hear any bass unless I crank the music way up. And even then it the treble didn't even sound that crisp. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences with these other systems to compare.

I think the logic7 blows away 90% of all oem stereos out there.I love it.

I just got my 335 coming from a Maxima with an upgraded bose sound system and the Logic7 is worlds better. Personally I do not understand why it gets a bad rap at all, unless you want trunk rattling bass that sets off car alarms. This isn't high school anymore. Just play with the bass and treble and the different setting and it sounds great.

The reason why the RSX's Bose doesnt sound so good is because the sub is built into the spare tire which is under 2 layers (rubber mat, thick carpeting). If it was positioned better it would sound better.

Well the sound is decent, the highs are ok the lows are mediocre at best. This BMW suffers from too much mid range bass. I plan on putting a single JL Audio 10 in a sealed enclosure. I like bass that hits tight not the booming kind. I think after I add the JL 10, I'll be able to reduce the bass to the other speakers, I think the combo will sound great considering its a stock system with clarity and low bass. FYI the oem system is much better than the "Blose" I had on my G35. I may have to dynamat the trunk to keep rattles to minimum and to keep people outside the vehicle from hearing the bass. Nothing worse than a "ghetto-fied" BMW.

I had a bose in my 89 maxima
and this far outdoes the bose of that era. For that matter I had the DSP in my 01 X5 and its WAY better than that too. It's on par with my BIL's '02 M5 system (DSP), maybe a bit better. It has an equalizer that allows you to really tune it the way you want

Personally I think the bass quality is quite subpar, which is why I'm adding a JL Audio 8W7.
The bass in my Celica (aftermarket) was far from "trunk rattling setting off alarm systems" and it was still MUCH better than Logic 7.

I have the logic7 and I think it is better then my bose system i had in my 2005 g35. Yes the bass isn't as good in the logic7...but thats only cause I had put two 10's in my trunk.

haha! of course you want legitimate data! I agree there is a new sheriff in town! No more saying stuff just to say it!
If you liked a Bose branded system (which is known for underbidding other audio companies in order to keep there name out there) then the Logic 7 will be just fine. The subwoofer is right under your seat, not in the trunk. The air moving around you sensation will be apparent at middle volume, which is always good.

I had a 96 Maxima with the Bose. It was good, but Logic7 is much better. The Logic7 is also better than any of the stereos in my previous 3 BMWs.
The Logic7 is not one of those thumpa-thumpa stereos that guys have installedd in their Civics so they can impress everyone at a stoplight, but it is good quality sound, and the bass is just about right. It could maybe use a little deeper sound as it is missing a few of the lower Hz, but the EQ kind of makes up for it. |

I agree the Logic7 is better than my previous 3 Series premium stereo's by a wide margin. It's one of the best stock radio's I have heard. If you the Maxima was sufficient, you should be happy with the BMW. Go listen to one and see for yourself..

I like the logic 7 as well but the high's (notes especially female artists) seem a bit tinny... even with the treble down .... Could it be due to the sampling rate I am using of 128 or maybe something wrong with the radio ?? Maybe I should try to make a cd with various sample rates to see if I can notice any differences ??
Thoughts ??

Sampling of 128br will definitely make you music sound suffer. I use 192 min and 256 most of the time. IMO, the L7 sounds pretty good for most music, but it definitely lacks in accurate bass reproduction. The bass is muddied and not tight and direct. |

Just got my E92 with Logic 7 and I have to say that the sound is probably the best I have heard inside a car! My friend who is a dj/producer was also very impressed with the sound quality. Now he wants to test out new tunes in my car before doing the final mastering and sending to label for production!

The L7 is FANTASTIC (and high-tech), especially for an OEM system.
I really, really, really enjoyed my L7. |

No highs, no lows, must be Bose.
