Common Electronic problems with 335i?

Hey guys,

I have a situation where I bought a 335 and its in the shop. i purchased a 3 year 36k aftermarket warranty from dealer.

I find out once its in the shop that it has a 1 yr cpo warranty remaining on it. that added an additional 3000 to purchase price. i was told that the cpo would cover any mechanical problems - but for peace of mind it would be smart to go on and keep the 36k platinum warranty because it covers everything and specifically was advised to keep it for peace of mind if the electronics go out on it.

So question is do 335s have common electric or computer problems? Would it be worth it to keep? I'm thinkiung I could go ahead and get another aftermarket warranty from same company a year from now after the original cpo warranty expires. Cause it seems like id be paying for a year that I wouldnt need.

Thoughts?

What year do you have an what Radio/Nav

What year do you have an what Radio/Nav
The amplifiers in the Hi Fi and especially the L7 are known to go bad but
I don't think its and epidemic.
If you have the standard radio the pixels go bad especially if you live in a hot environment this an old BMW problem not model specific.
The coils for the plugs fail but I don't know if you can call this and electronic problem.
I think control and entertainment electronics are pretty solid in most cars these days but I have never owned an Audi , I have heard people have trouble with those.

hey thanks for the response. its an 07. with 40k miles. and thats what im thinking. like the coil packs are easy fixes. but they just mentioned if idrive goes out, or one of the thousand bmw computers goes out... i have an e90 equipped with idrive. other than that - i havent really heard of any major electrical problems dealing with computers and such. the common 335 problems i hear of are the hpfp, coil packs, spark plugs, waste gate, turbos, heat soak, etc.... but nothing with idrive.

I have been hanging out on these boards 3 years

I have been hanging out on these boards 3 years
The instances of having something going on with the the control
electronics I can remember I can count on less than one hand. On every other
car I have ever owned not one had a electronic control module go bad .
Its always mechanical parts or sensors.
You are right the turbo hardware comes up over and over again.
The idrive could be a problem but I have not seen a lot of instances
of that reported bad here either.
