My 335d detailed

This is my recent purchase was taken to a friend to try and turn around the previous damage to the paint which was most likely from poor wash technique and auto car washes.

(It's his words not mine)

Here she is, a standard dirty car:

The car was snow foam pre washed with this:

Nice thick shaving foam style:

Left to dwell on the car to soften the road grime:

Power wash rinsed:

Get in about the arches to remove the debris left behind by the winter:

The debris that has been removed from the car is caught by the foam and is easily seen here:

A safe two bucket wash with Megs Shampoo Plus:

wheels would be cleaned with Megs Wheel Brightener and Iron X:

Iron X applied with clearly visible results:

Rinsed to ensure all cleaning products are flushed away.

The car was sprayed with a degreaser and Tar remover, rinsed and washed before claying.

This car has significant paint protection film applied and it obvious where in this shot. I am not a fan of this and will restrict the work we can do to these areas safely:

the car was now clean and was dried with a few MF towels and brought into the garage for inspection and polishing:

Paint thickness measured all round to check for any resprayed or thin paint panels:

(split this post into wash & polish, next post coming right up)

part deux:

Paint reading showed no real issues so on with the polishing stage. The polishes used were from 3M & Menzerna and to be applied by rotary:

new sonus pads:

Pad loaded with polish, only a few pea size spots at this point:

Rear off side 1/4 :

Passenger door with some pretty bad scuffs:

No match for the 3M:

Nice little tool for those hard to reach areas:

Bonnet:

The makita makes its mark:

Boot lid:

Offside door:

After refining the finish, a wipe down to remove polishing residue:

Black Hole glaze now applied with DA machine for added gloss/bling and to mask any remaining random scratches that could not be fully corrected as part of this job:

Even though the wheels are in total need of a refurb, tha faces were protected with Chemicals Guys in the meantime:

The last product applied was a premium wax from Zymol - Carbon:

A selection of finished photographs to end:

The stone chip film really restricted the correction that can be done around these areas and were only whizzed over at a slower speed with a final finnish polish. Most other areas were treated to something like 90-95% correction with a great improvement in gloss. A very decent turn around within the parameters of the timescale etc and now the car looks as it should.

Nice job, a lot of work with fantastic results. Few colours shine up as nice as black , it's just a pity it gets dirty twice as quick as others.

Ah, this is the bargain 335d.

I remember the post about buying it.

Look great, although I'm biased as mine looks the same as yours.

Good job by the mate.

After cleaning mine today I realised just how bad the garage who i bought it from "detailed" it as its covered in swirls and in my eyes badly marred. So it looks like im gonna have to spend one weekend correcting it.

Why do some people have a fascination with the Focus RS?

I'd take a 335 ahead of one without having to think.
