Birds Autos remap
Has anyone had birds auto remap and if so are you pleased with it and have you had it rolling roaded to see if the gains are acurate. I know there are loads of other options for remapping but my E91 335i still has BMW warrantee and Birds offer to match the warrantee. I am planning on getting the LSD fitted and the hartge anti roll bars, hopefully that will sort the car out if not I shall look at a suspension and brake upgrade but would prefer not to have too. Hopefully someone can give me some first hand knowledge on the Birds remap.

Not used them personally for remap but only heard good things about them.
Have used them for changing an idrive unit and coding and have no complaints and can recomend all day long...plus they helped deal with my warrenty company! |

Thanks
I know Birds offer a great service but have yet to find anyone who has one of their remap's and I wondered why I know the remap is expensive on its own but as part of a LSD package or other it looks better value.

It is fair to say that most people go to Evolve or get a JB4 for tuning and then go to Birds for their suspension and LSD etc. Not sure why though?

I thought it was expensive! and the gains were not as good as Evolve, JB4 etc..
Will they cover any part rejected warranty due to a remap - e.g. gearbox or clutch issues which a dealer could claim was under additional stress due to the added torque/power - maybe thats why the prices are high, if so worth it. I expect it would be difficult to prove to their satisfaction that the map was the cause though... I went with JB4 due to the invisibility to dealers. Cobb and the evolve r cable are even more flexible nowadays.

Hello,
A lot of people on here also use e-maps (Simon) How much are the Birds remap? If they are expensive then that could be a reason why people are not using them |

Yeah, The Birds remap is quite expensive compared to the other available options....I think that they used Dinan or have some link with Proceede...can't remember which one...
Birds are normally for suspension, brakes, and lsd....and fitting stuffs like intercooler and downpipes... Remaps= Evolve, JB4, Cobb, Proceede, Emaps (not sure if they do 335i)...all have got good reviews.... |

I think the Birds remap when I looked for my 330d LCI was in the region of £1200 ....
It had better be very good for that money - though I looked because of their name ... and the fact as my car is a 2010 model it is more difficult to map .... However, like the OP have never heard of anyone with one of their maps ! |

Hi Andyoxon,
I have an LCI 335i E91 6MT which has had a fair bit done by Birds, incl their version of the latest Procede p/back ECU with their own settings c/w catted DP's. From speaking to Kevin and PInder they are moving away from Dinan SW for N54 upgrades in favour of p/b ECU. Am v happy with the results 400+ BHP at crank and ~ 430+ lbs/ft of torque. Car has boosted map settings, both of which are v noticeable over stock providing lots of poke anywhere on the rev counter but keeping it driveable. I have their 3.5s chassis package c/w M3 front suspension bits and LSD. With the switch to non-RFT tyres, it rides much better than stock, goes round corners like its on rails and is able to keep the 30%+ gains under the bonnet in check. Most of my petrolhead buddies [some of which drive assorted exotica] are v impressed and like the fact that its a Q car whilst also being more than able at keeping M3 & 911 drivers honest. C/w BMW performance exhaust fitted by my dealer, it sounds superb too !!! Birds may not be the cheapest but I think you get what you pay for when upgrading our cars. I've had only good experiences with them todate so happy to recommend them and go back to them in the future. Good luck with yr plans for yr car. Dave |

I don't think anyone is questioning their ability or reputation which seems flawless. Just the cost of the map and whether this is worth the money..
Pay your money make your choice at the end of the day. I run JB4 with 50% more power than standard, if the clutch goes I know it's my fault - pay to play..

Thanks for all the replies especially Dave. I was under the impression that if something goes wrong with your warranted car and BMW say they will not pay due to the modification carried out by Birds then Birds will sort it out be it gear box engine etc, I got this information from speaking to Birds. I am led to believe that any changes you make to your car via the ECU are detectable by BMW and if your engine/gearbox went bang in big way you would be screwed also if you have wiped the memory on the ECU to delete any traces of an updated map then you would need a very good reason for this before BMW would fix anything under your warrantee.
