Steering Wheel Cover
So... If I was to replace my steering wheel cover (mine is a bit scratched at the right underneath the MF buttons), couldn't I get this one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Perfor...ht_2064wt_1398 Instead of this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuin...ht_2030wt_1398 Since a) its performance which is better than M (surely) and b) cheaper? Problem if, if I did get this to replace the standard "M" one that I have now, I'd have to install the very tasty auto shifter, gaiter and handbrake parts to match |

you could do a diy: sand down the trim and respray it or keep an eye out on ebay and wait for one to pop up in good condition i got an unmarked near new one for £15 inc delivery which worked out roughly the same as if i were to do the diy |

I'd agree it would look odd without any other alacantara items - but as I've got the perf gear knob gaiter and handbrake gaiter I'm considering it. It also looks good if you've got carbon wrapped interior trim. (ala bmw perf range)
Btw if you go on bmwlandforum.co.uk ring the Cotwald BMW dealer listed there are they'll do the perf part for you for £53 deliverd saving you £7 (every little helps as they say) |

I really don't like that performance one. Looks like a pair of moleskin trousers that have seen better days but that's just me.

Here's what the wheel would look like with just the perf cover with gear gaitor and knob (in a one series but you get the idea)....
The other option (cheaper is to wrap it - could even go for carbon wrap??) |

Now I've seen it, I'm not actually sure I like it... I do love the auto gear shifter in "Performance" flavour though but it'd look a bit rubbish being the only alcantara in the cockpit...
The same part from the M3 fits, and looks ace, but its a bit more expensive than the M-Sport one (and its a bit wrong too I think... it is not afterall an M3) |
