Quick Q - new keys, how much?

How much do BMW charge to make/code a new e90 key? What docs would they need?

Assume you can only get a new set via a dealer?

You can buy blank keys from eBay/Internet.However,getting a local dealer to programme a key that hasn't been purchased through them may be an issue.
I've heard horror stories about how much some keys can cost ie several hundreds!

I was quoted about £165 recently, couldn't purchase as I didn't have my tax book at the time.

You can get the one that goes in the glove box, its a little cheaper though but probably not as useful.

£165 didnt seem to bad to me when I spent over £200 on a Honda Civic one recently...

Did they happen to mention how long it takes?

Cheers

£165 is very cheap. We got completely ripped off by Ford when getting a replacement key for the missus Fiesta. It was a non-remote control key - just a basic key that you stick in the key hole to open the door - they charged us £135. Bloody daylight robbery - but they have you by the short and curlies as they have to program the key to the car.

I went to a local locksmith once and was able to get a flipkey made for my focus for £25. (I supplied the blank flip key). To think of it must see if he can do BMW's.
