A front lip is not just for Christmas...........

Hey guys and gals,

I have been playing with the idea of a front lip for a while now, and to be honest I was going to give up on the idea..... Until... ( will get to that after)

Little background:
The car is a le mans blue Msport 330i no mods apart from wheels. I am generally a fan of the stock look, but I have had the car for over 4 years now, and well I think its begging for something, to maybe refresh the front end.
It seems that I could go down the route of having a pair of front splitters like this chap but most definately paint them in Le Mans Blue:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=572154

Or......I could maybe do what this other chap has done, which I think is pure genius... A Vorsteiner full lip and then had a bodyshop flawlessly mould it into the original M sport bumper. The look is very OEM, yet modied and classy at the same time.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228130

Has anyone done anything similar? or does anyone prefer a different lip?

All comments welcome GOOD OR BAD.

After looking at Remmib's photoshoot, I might rethink my opinion of the 2 piece splitters - that Vorsteiner lip is very very nice, but the bodyshop work needed to mould it and smooth it would make it a huge (and very expensive) job.

I reckon the OEM splitters in body colour would looks great, especially on a LMB car

Yea bro not only are you right about the cost, after some research online it looks as though Vorsteiner have discontinued the front lip for all e90's excluding the M cars.

Sucks really.

No worries bro, Are you thinking of doing this also? You know there is a poly urethane lip hat can be had for around £100ish unpainted. Its very similar to the Vorsteiner one. I can try and find a link if you like.

As requested kind sir, however i think the poly lip is £150 and carbon is roughly double.

http://www.mstyle.co.uk/acatalog/bmw...s_bonnets.html

Now as a project im sure one could pick up a second hand bumper of fleabay or classifieds and then start a mini moulding project. ( In case you wanted to keep stock bumper for sale )

Just a thought.

Also Fleabay lip £200+ with delivery.

Remmibs car is stunning. The Vorsteiner one looks very similar to Alpina front bumper could you not go down that route. Probably as cheap to buy and spray as having a lip spoiler blended into the existing.

Hi chaps see here for pics of the front lip I had .. after replacing very worn out front splitters ..

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=553120

It was 250 for the CF front lip one piece, then another 220 to get it moulded by a local NW london body shop (can provide reference)

If any info needed PM me

I agree. The 3D design style one is a big improvement over Hamaan or the ACS ones.. and blows stick on CF splitters out of the water!

I considered a couple of mods but then bought myself a carbon fibre road bike instead!

I'm still of the opinion the M-Sport looks pretty good as it is and the less is more apporach works best which I think is why the splitter Remmib put on his works so well.

Make sure you put some photos on of whatever you do do!

Subtle mods are a must, ott and you ruin a near perfect car i think

Only thing i did was add the splitter & rear spoiler, the rest i just had painted, alot cheaper too

These are my sentiments exactly. The only thing I changed were the wheels and tires and I feel the change has suited my driving style perfectly. As for asthetics i want to but then like yourself i think its a very well blanaced car as it is. Still though.... I am undecided as yet.
