Just ordered M Coupe

Hello all,
I have been reading this post as well as some of the others for quite awhile now and have to say, I have learned alot and finally made my decision. We test drove both the 335i convert and the Z4 3.0si this afternoon, since these were my two choices. Needless to say we chose the Z4, but decided to go with the M. If we are going to do anything we prefer to do it all the way. Unfortunately for me, it will be next year before I receive it. I ordered an '08 to be delivered around JUL next year. I am leaving for Iraq very soon and want to have it the day I get back. Aside from my awesome wife and kids, this will give me 1 more thing to look forward to when I get back. Here is the e-mail confirmation they just sent me. I am pretty happy with the options and price. I have read on here that there are good deals to be had in the states but I am happy with this deal, best I could do in Germany.

Thanks all! I am pretty stoked about it. But like I said it will still be some time before I am driving it. The BMW rep told me that they are shooting for a JUN '08 build date and it should be delivered in JUL/AUG of '08. This works perfect as my wife can receive it, drive it conservatively for a month or so and put some miles on it, so when I get home it will be ready to be driven properly. I will have about a month to enjoy it on the autobahn before I ship it to the states. After my test drive today, I wish I could have it tomorrow.....

Which pentagon car sales did you get it from? As for deals go...you bought it tax free with a 5000 dollar discount...that's better than most.

Since he's in Germany...I doubt you'll be able to do...unless you want to fly over there and drive it on the autobahn...maybe it'd be worth the plane ticket...

On the other hand you'd have to get the break in period out of the way and then pay for the 1200 mile service (about 220 euro). Oh yeah...and during the break in period you're supposed to keep it under 106 mph...

I ordered it through Pentagon in Heidelberg. I have been talking to them since lat July when I returned from Afghanistan. I was initially planning on the 335i vert. But when I saw the Coupe, I instantly fell in love with the looks, then after an extensive test drive, I was sold. The wait will be extremely hard, but the extra $$$ from being deployed is what is paying for the car, so I think it is a fair trade. I appreciate the offers to put some miles on her for me, but I am even hesitant about the Mrs. driving it, but if you cant trust your wife, who can ya trust? As far as the deal...I am happy about it, tax free and approx $6k off MSRP. Also, on a side note, this is the first M Coupe they have ordered in Germany and they know of only 1 other M roadster. So, pretty rare car. I have not even seen one M coupe and only 2 other Coupes here in Germany and one of them was the one I drove (German SPEC).

Good for you man. I got mine from the pentagon carsales guys in Mainz Kastel...so it must be the first one that the Heidelberg guys have ordered. Enjoy the hell out of that thing on the auobahn when you get it. If you have any questions about not paying paying taxes on it when you get back to the states let me know.

Thanks Dammmittt, I am not sure how it works so any info you can give would be appreciated. I am originally an Oregon resident and plan to register the car there once I get back stateside, so I wont have to worry about sales tax. But not sure about import or any other tax uncle Sam might want.

Well...it really depends on where you're going. Just make sure that only you are on the registration unless you are dual military. Cuz if you're wife name is on there with you as being co-owner you may have to pay half of the sales tax depending on what you want to do.

I origianally planned to register in NH because it's sales tax free but the registration fee was rediculous (would have cost about $900). Lucky for me SC grants tax free status to military members (provided you're the sole owner of the vehicle, or the sole person on the registration). So I had to pay 18 bucks for a road fee and 35 dollars to register. DEAL!

So I guess the biggest thing is research. Check with the DMV in the state you're going to first, it may be cheaper and easier than going to your home state. If you gotta go through your home state...that's a different issue. But there's plenty of time for that. Get home safe from Iraq man.

Hello all,
Well, there have been a few changes since I started this thread, but there is good news at the end of it. In OCT I changed my order to Monaco/ light sepang. I had until JAN 14 to make any changes and....on 12 JAN I decided to change to SB/Imola. Third time is a charm! I received my chassis # on 8 FEB and it was to have a build date of 11-16 FEB. This being said I can only assume it is built. I am hoping in the next week or so it will make its long journey across the pond back to the Motherland where it should have been built to begin with. It is expected to arrive to the showroom around 25 MAR. The dealer is going to put it in his showroom and lock it up...no touching, sitting in or anything of the sort from customers until I return to germany for my R&R. I am currently in Iraq and will be home on or about 22 APR. Initially my wife was going to take delivery and put some miles on it before I got there so it would be closer to the 1200 mile service, unfortunately she is due 29 APR, so I dont think she will be driving the M Coupe, dont need her water breaking in the car. Needless to say I am pretty stoked about my R&R, not only will we be welcoming another member to the family fire team, but I will be picking up my new M Coupe. My wife thinks I am crazy, she has already started receiving parts for the car and it isnt even here yet. So far I have the zerkhauser CDV delete, the go-mini front license plate holder (have instructed dealer..NO HOLES in bumper), the 4" antenna and the LeatherZ armrest combo in Imola. Upon delivery I will also receive M mats and a car cover from the dealer. The unfortunate thing is that I will only have 18 days at home before I have to return back to Iraq until OCT 08, so the car will be going into storage for about 5 1/2 months. I know you all have seen em, but you can believe you will be seeing some pics in April!
