BlueTooth Dealer Retrofit Kit non-NAV. Voice recognion?

Folks,

I've searched threads on the Bluetooth retrofit, but have not found anything on current (April 2007) build 335i e90 sedans that answers if English voice recognition is enabled by this kit.

My e90 is prewired. Dealer has confirmed that a retro bluetooth kit is available. I'm planning on installing in the next week, BUT...

Dealer cannot confirm if voice recognition is part of the kit!

Without the voice recognition, the kit is worthless to me. I've got a 6speed manual and drive in heavy traffic. I need one hand for the wheel the other for the shifter!

Anyone know if voice recognition, in English, can be activated as part of this BMW retrofit non-Idrive Bluetooth kit?

RoverActive on ebay may be able to answer your question. RoverActive told me that the bluetooth module is programmed according to the VIN, so English voice recognition should be programmed for NA cars. Shoot him an email, and please post your answers and results here. I am looking into this retrofit, too. So I would like to know as well. Good Luck!

I looked into it in the past. A lot of people ran into problems that the voice recognition box for the US is hella expensive. The box that comes with the kit works for just about every language but english. There a 2 different boxes, ours and everyone elses. Kinda wacky.

I learned after doing the xenon retrofit that if you didn't get something put on the car at the factory your going to pay an arm and a leg to get it put on afterwards. All cars will be ordered to spec from now on.

Good luck though. If you can pull it off for under 1k please let me know.

Dealer called me today to tell me that based on my build date of April 2007 Bluetooth retro kit was 1600US plus installation. I was too shocked to ask install fees.

I am not installing.

The cost of the kit is based on build date.
