Dim M angel eyes

Ive noticed that my angel eyes are really dim compared to the 3 and 5 series. I have mine set as DRLs and they are really difficult to see. Anyone else notice this? I just want them to be brighter as DRLs. Is there a way to modify the light intensity???

Yeah they're none too bright on our cars.
The E92 335 has a great set up, you just have to swap out the bulbs & they're mega bright.

I haven't heard of anyone doing anything with ours yet......

I told you: lasers. Trade up the xenons for laser beams. Then you don't actually have to see everything in front of you because it will just be vaporized.

Mine are also dim to look at from the inside but on the outside, they look brighter. It took me a little while to get used to them however, as I had been so used to the lights on my Silverado.

I think I also will look into increasing visibility with some brighter ones.

Well, after a little digging. Finding data on the Z4's is downright difficult unless you open up the assemblies yourself. From what I have been able to scrounge up, the M's use a bi-xenon system for the headlights and what appears in the drawings to be an H7 12v 55w bulb for the "corona ring". The H7 bulb appears to be common across all Z4 platforms, so I would think that just upgrading to a brighter H7 should do the trick.
Source of additional data here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/

Now, for the disclaimer: I did not personally pull the panel under the wheel well and check the bulbs located in the headlight assembly, mine are fine and I don't feel like crawling around in there. If you are wanting to go to a brighter bulb, double check what YOU have in the lamp assembly before blindly following advice on these forums.

In regards to a previous statement; I try to provide the best information that I can instead of just sending people on a wild goose chase with the . If I can find it, I will post a link or do what I just did here, explain what I found and let the individual make their own decisions. YMMV.

Cheers!

Shouldn't your local dealer be able to give you specs on the lamps...and upgradability...

A little jovial banter is okay when people are asking for advice on how to fix a problem, but I think this is a little excessive. From what I have found out, it seems like a very valid question for those that do their own repairs. Not all people have easy access to a dealer or time to waste. End of rant.

Flamesuit on.

Screw the brighter bulbs - I NEED the lasers for the idiots who dare to hang out in front of me actually doing the speed limit!

There is very little documentation on the Angel Eyes that come on the Z4s. Not even a mention in the manual and RealOem.com has nothing on it as well. The H7 bulb mentioned above is actually the high beam // flash2pass (on cars with bixenons) not the Angel Eye bulb. I've replaced my low beam HID D2S bulbs as well as the H11 Fog Light bulbs and saw firsthand the H7 pair of inner bulbs.

Previously BMW used an H8 bulb which sat in a housing that reflected the light into optical wiring, the optical wiring lit the ring. However, I have been unable to find any documentation stating that the Z4 also uses this technology. As of right now I dont think there is a solution to the dim angel eyes. Also at least on my car the angel eyes are ONLY on the two inner rings (flash2pass)

I wish my Zed had all 4 coronas lit (like they do on the 3 series). But I guess 2 is better than none!
