How Soon Should I Wax a New Car
I took delivery of my new E91 a few weeks ago. How soon do you recommend the first coat of wax? I have always used Griot's "Best of Show" wax on my other vehicles and have been happy with the results. Is this a good product? This is my primary car, but lives in the garage when not in use and will get driven about 5000+/- miles/ yr. Thanks for any advice!

How soon? ASAP
As soon as she gets home. Wash, Clay, (optional light polish) Wax/seal, Leather Master Protection Cream on the seats, and enjoy! The exact product you use on your paint isn't as important as proper washing, and using the protective product often enough. I wouldn't recommend waiting more than 2 months between wax coats. Luckily for you, you have a top notch detailer in your back yard in Mike Napoli of CMC Detail. It might be a good idea just to get in touch with him in the event you want some one-on-one advice. Congrats on the new ride! |

By the time the car gets to you, it's safe to wax. Repaints it is typical to wait 30+ days for offgassing.

Plus, as anyone who knows me can attest, I'm a BMW junkie and I recently sold my own Bimmer, and am having severe Roundel-withdrawal symptoms lately. If you ever want to chat or get together, just shoot me a PM! |

As mentioned above caring for the vehicle right away is ideal. The saying "an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure" certainly applies. Check out this article, How to care for a new vehicle, when you get time and let me know if you have any questions.
