Sorry if this is common knowledge BUT,

Which tires produces less tire/road noise?

-Continental DW (summer)

Or

-Continental DWS (all-season)
?

Thanks.

Not sure about the DW but I have the DWS, the Michelin Super Sport and the Michelin PS2 A/S and the DWS is the quietest, next the a/s and then the super sport.

Seems like a strange criteria for deciding between the DW and DWS. The real issue is whether or not you want Summer or All Season performance tires.

And the DWS tires on my 128i have been commendably quiet for over 10k miles.

Not criteria for deciding. I am just curious. I am going with a summer setup, but was wondering....

I would like to know if road/tire noise is more directly related with rubber compound, or tread design... then obviously tire/wheel dimensions and weight play in to the mix.

I had the DW and never really noticed any significant road noise... hope that helps
