Wheel alignment

I just got an email from BMW telling me about the merits of a four-wheel alignment and how if I go in for one, they'll give me a $50 basket of cleaning products for free.

How often should one get their wheels aligned? Do you wait until you notice something is off or do you just go at regular intervals?

Also, how much does BMW charge usually?

Thanks!

You can tell by feel and by tire wear.... but then it's too late.
I do mine every year in the spring; but NOT at the dealer.

After a couple of butchered jobs......
A friend put me on to Simone Performance in Newmarket. (likely a little far for you)
He's mainly a Nissan shop, but he's built a full race Mini &
tunes the suspension for another full race E46 M3

He's fantastic, ..knows the proper weighting procedure,
lets you stay in the shop while he's setting it up
& is absolutely the most perfectionistic mechanic I've ever come across.
LOL.... He's even pickier than I am.
