This error message has sporadically popped up on me over the past 3 years but now it's on and has been on for weeks and it's driving me crazy. The same thing happened to my 530 and it was covered by the factory recall. I read that the same recall affected some 2006 3 series models, but the dealer has told me my VIN isn't on the recall list so my only option is to come in and pay $150 for a diagnostic, and if they need to repair the seat it'll cost close to $1000.

This is absurd and my complaints to BMW HQ were brushed aside. They basically told me to fuck off.

Has anyone here had luck in getting the dealer to fix this issue under recall? I reported my car to the NHTA but haven't heard anything back.
