Need Help looking to purchase a 335xi

Hey guys new to the forum, I currently have a 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3 and looking to upgrade.

I stopped at a local BMW dealer yesterday and ended up negoiating some numbers on a 2010 BMW 335i Xdrive. (6spd auto)

It has 17,000 miles and is in MINT condition inside and out. It has the following options: Cold Weather Package, Premium Package, AWD, and Navigation System.

I got the price to $35,985 and $15,000 for my trade-in(my car has 26k) I ran the carfax and its had two owners....was a loaner car for 6 months then a personal vehicle for the rest.

What do you guys think? Also the car ISNT ceritified which worries me, why wouldnt it be certified? Also could I get it certified?

Thanks alot for the help!

-Jordan

You do understand the HPFP failures, right? If not, read up then come back to us.

Yes I do...I had the dealer lookup the service record and it was replaced at 8700 miles.

It's a little pricey to be honest. I would strongly consider an M3 sedan if you have the money.

You think its pricey? Most in my area are around the 39k mark. Also why isnt it certified? Due to the MY or low miles?

2 owners and 17,000 miles... that's a little unusual.

No. It is in the proper year and mileage range for certification. You can ask the dealer why it wasn't certified, they generally will tell you.

My best guess is because it was a loaner...

Loaner = no deal to my thinking. No telling how many people drove that car or how it was treated during that time.

I've had loaner cars and many people I know have had loaner cars. Do you know what we do with them? Treat them as shittily as we can, floor them, slam the door, blast the bass, whatever--because? It's not our car. My personal opinion highly recommends staying away from a loaner car, especially one that's a fast one, a manual one and a non-certified one. It has been abused. In 6 months, I guarantee you it's went through way more than 6 drivers. What are the odds of abuse on that? I might be wrong, but still, I've had a loaner, and I know why I wouldn't buy a car that has been loaned to me, whilst I treat my own car like a baby.

dont know what HPFP has anything to do with this.....but i wouldn't even worry for a second about this.

buy certified and dont buy loaner car ! its not just about miles and years. you can probably get 08-09 CPO with 30k miles for $27-29k. $36k for a none-CPO loaner.......no thanks.

And its only had one oil change. (This is my primary reason for not buying any used late model BMW, especially a turbo.)

I got mine (2010 335i xdrive) for about that same price. All of the maintenance done was on car fax. The owner barely drove 6k per year. Oil was then changed at 6k interval.

Single owner, less miles. You should try get it for less, or more for your.

So it's 2010 so that means N54 engine... I don't know if that makes much of a difference to you.

I mean the price seems about right, but the only thing is why would someone only own it for such a short time after it was a service loaner.

But I agree with other posts, service loaners get beat up big time. That's a tough call.

I'd be more concerned that it's not certified. That means something's missing in their long laundry list of things that makes a BMW certified.

I gave up a 3 year old lease on a 2007 which had 49,000 miles on it at the same dealership, and it was certified without any trouble. It was also sold within 1 week!

You should really ask them why it's not - maybe for the fact that it was a service loaner, or already had 2 owners i.e. first one got the "certified" name.

Personally, if you're going to be spending anything more than $30k, you should definitely be buying a certified car. I would find one with the sport package too, that might just be my personal preference but I think the sport package is a lot nicer. It sounds like a nice car, and it sounds mint but I wouldn't pull the trigger. Loaner cars are never fun to own
