New shocks
I have to replace my rear shocks, dealer is charging me 1300 including labor and tax..does that seem like a fair price? Any recommendations?

that's too expensive..
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-330...n/Shocks/Rear/ parts 300$ and they charge u $1000 for labor it's a rip off. Find an independent mechanic who will do the labor. Last edited by Ukie; 01-30-2012 at 10:01 AM.. |

Is that quote for rear only? Does it include alignment (not necessarily required for rear struts)?
If we are talking remove and replace of the rear struts only, a realistic estimate of labor would be an hour per corner (in your case 2 hours). Add that with two new struts and new bushings/hardware and your total should be almost half of what they quoted you. Labor $120 x2 + OE Struts $150 x2 + Misc hardware/bushing ~$100 = $640 Total I'd get another estimate. You may also want to consider replacing all 4 struts and get an alignment. |

If you do it yourself over the weekend it would only cost $300-$400.

Labor for the rear is like $300 bucks at the most at an indy, don't ever go to a stealership unless your car is under warranty.

Avoid the stealership for anything not covered under warranty.
