BMW performance exhaust kit question - gaskets included?

Anyone know if it comes with the two flat gaskets for the downpipe to exhaust connection? I'm hoping to put it on this weekend, but if not I will need to stop by the dealer on my way home from the airport this afternoon.

Got the Performance Intake to put on too. Should be some fun wrenching!

Thanks!

What two flat gaskets? As far as I know all you need are the 3 clamps... 2 in front and 1 in rear (that's what she said)

Conventional wisdom seems to be to remove the whole exhaust before cutting it. Thus potentially needing the two gaskets.

And as I just got home, I can confirm that the kit does not. I have just enough time to run over to the dealership and see how much the raping is for them. RealOEM says $14 and change, my local is likely higher.

I would just resuse the gaskets. Unless they were leaking they should be fine.

I would return the air intake and get the Performance Kit for the same price. Air intake doesn't do anything. The parts guy at the dealer told me it was a major waste and its his job to sell that stuff.

When I had my Performance Exhaust installed on my '06 330 there were no gaskets. The just cut mid-pipe out and clamped the PE in its place. Three clamps as another member commented.

BMW PE is just a muffler system. It's not the whole system.

Sure it does - it sounds better, and it looks better. Any potential performance gains are added gravy, if they exist at all. BMW says +3hp at 6K. Wheeee!

Anyway, given that what I have to cut the pipes with is a rather large and unwieldy sawzall, I bought the gaskets. I'll be taking the whole thing off and cutting it in comfort on my workbench. What's anther $36 on top of an $1100 exhaust system to do it right? : And yes, even with my BMWCCA discount those gaskets where $18 apiece. Very impressive considering they look to be identical other than size to Volvo exhaust manifold gaskets that cost $1 apiece.

And as to why the OEM BMW Performance bits? Because I have not the slightest interest in playing the "will the dealer screw with me due to aftermarket mods" game. The OEM stuff is VERY expensive for what it is, but it is garanteed no hassles. And I can't take it with me, so why not?

My dealer charged me 1 hour labor to install my PE. Very reasonable IMO.

+1 to returning performance intake and buying an OEM Euro airbox from ECS for 1/3 the price. Same performance.

You'll get most bang for your buck from nice tires, light wheels, and some suspension upgrades.

Quite reasonable.

But I have a fully-equipped shop at home with a lift, so having the dealer do it would be more effort than it is worth. Drop car off, pick it up, etc. An hour or two of bonding with my "kid" (he's 35 now) brother on the agenda tomorrow.

Again, not looking for bargains, I am looking for a better sounding car with ZERO potential dealership warranty hassles.

I have no interest in suspension upgrades, the car rides and handles perfectly as it stands. This a grocery-getter and long-distance tourer, not a race car. If I want to go around corners like a maniac I drive my Alfa GTV-6, which is lowered and on Konis, and about 1000lbs lighter. I just want a better sounding grocery getter - it is just too quiet. Needed to be livened up a bit.

I should post some video of the Alfa at full war cry - as Jeremy Clarkson once said - "like having your soul licked by angels".

It's not for 335... the PE on NA models is a full catback exhaust... deletes the resonator
