The Unlock Button on My Key Fob Won't Work

Has anyone else had this problem? The lock button and trunk button both work fine, but for some reason, the unlock button does not - and of course i lost my spare.

is there anything I can do about this besides buy a new key?

Take it into the dealer, if you are in good with them they will probably warranty it for you.
In the mean time use the metal blade key in fob to unlock the door.

I agree it's a pain in the ass. Try the dealer route, worst case they say no right.

Does it just not unlock the driver door or all doors? If its the first, it could be the door lock motor instead of the fob. Just a thought. Good luck.

Just as summall says, does the other remote work?

folks, as per the original post the other remote is missing, plus the lock button works so that rules out the motor

Last time I had it serviced, I asked about it and they said I would just have to buy a new key for $200.. I doubt they'll warranty it..

i guess 200 isn't much... just thought there might be a quick fix or something

May not be a bad idea to buy a new fob and use the old one as spare before everything stop working on your old one.

Yeah I have the same problem, seems like my unlock button is stuck and feel no click anymore like my trunk and lock button. I guess spare key or go the the dealer...

Exact same thing happened to me this week. Check fuse 57 (I have an 07 328xi). Mine was blown. Replaced fuse (20 amp) and all is good. This is a pretty common problem on these cars. Try changing the fuse first. If that doesn't work, someone on this forum previously mentioned disconnecting battery for at least 15 minutes fixed it for them. But I'd try fuse first.

It should be fuse 57. If not, look at fuse 73. My issue was car would lock fine, and trunk button worked fine, but unlock wouldn't, either on key fob or button on dash. Replaced fuse 57, all is good now. Hope this helps!

Why don't you ask the dealer to re-program your key and then buy a new one? I mean, you lost one key fob...or am I too paranoid?
