Insurance question.
Not sure if i am in the right place to post this. I have been using Geico ever since i purchased my car. And i felt it's a little bit expensive. So i called a insurance agent who help people to get cheap insurance.
My agency quoted a cheap insurance company called Travelers insurance. What's weird is that i need to get House and auto insurance together. if not, it will be way more expensive. But it's about 500 cheaper. Any one heard of Travelers insurance or had any experience with it. Please let me know. Does it worth it to exchange? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks for the help in advance. |

Travelers is one of the largest USA-based insurance companies in the country. I'm surprised you've never come across them. The Travelers group is an A+ rated insurance company by AM Best, which is the standard rating company for the insurance industry, so aside from personal experience (and that's a preemptive YMMV warning), they're no fly-by-night company.
Re your situation, I am a supporter of independent agents when it comes to insurance, whether it be commercial or personal. At the very least, they have the capacity to shop your risks across multiple markets during your policy renewals to keep your rates competetive (unlike your Geicos or State Farms, which only use captive agents). |

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but Travelers is a huge, respected old company.

I second this. You get even more of a discount if you are an Executive member at Costco, plus a few other benefits, such as Roadside Assistance, etc.

Before you go with Traveler's, I suggest you get a quote online from several insurance companies. I would also strongly suggest comparing the coverages they provide you so you can choose what company/coverages best fit your need. Some do not have 24 hr customer service and some gives you a lowball price then charge you a steep renewal. Just do your homework man, just like how you researched when you bought your car... don't make a rash decision before doing research. I'm not saying Traveler's is awful but you might want to check this out.... http://www.automobileinsurancereview.com/travelers-insurance/reviews/. Good luck!

Yep, always pays to shop around a bit. Also, any company will likely have cheaper rates if you combine. I've got a combined auto/home policy with state farm and my 335 only runs me about $85 a month which I think is pretty reasonable, especially considering I'm under 25.

IMHO, yes online will save a few bucks, but I would rather pay a little more have an agent...
