How do you shake a woman's hand?

Recently shook a teachers hand, and she said it was too "light". That it implies I'm chauvinistic, and better than a female.

I personally just let their finger-tips get to my knuckles and I just lightly squeeze the fingers. I don't let the thumbs align and intertwine with each other like I do men.

I'm a very big guy, I don't go around grabbing females hands and squeezing the hell out of them, I consider it polite and she considered it sexist.

That was my general consensus in life, I've shaken many females hands, and I have never been told that. I assumed lesbians felt that way, so I said this "I wish feminists wore something recognizable so I didn't have to hold the door open for them". I then said "feminists want all of the perks, yet want to be treated equally." Which one is it?
