Detailed outside of my 335xi..Some pics
Used my Makita buffer with yellow and black foam pads with Meguiar's Cleaning wax and Gold class Carnauba. Then dressed tires.

I think you mean right above the tail light, I think i didn't get all the wax residue, it was 42 degrees out, 1 last layer before snow/salt comes.

have to remember, a lot of the detailers who post up amazing mirror finish cars are pumping up the contrast and vibrance in their photos |

Yellow pads are meant for compounding, a cleaner wax on a yellow pad on a rotary probably did more damage than good. You'd be much better off using a light polish on a less aggressive pad.

At the time I used my phone camera.
Yellow foam is not for compound, wool pads are, it is to remove any fine scratches and bring the shine back to the surface. There are a lot of color foam pads, I know what I am doing. The paint it swirl free and has no defects.

Example: LC Yellow is a compounding foam, Meguiars Yellow is their polishing foam. Another example is LC traditional in blue is a finishing pad, the hydrotech pads' blue color "Cyan" is the compounding foam. Color is irrelevant as it doesn't always carry over line to line. |

42 degrees...thats too cold! I'd quit working unless it was in a heated garage!!!! LOL It had to be about 50 today and I was in the sun and cold while working on a car. cool thing is I got a black GT3 to correct next week because of it!
why did you top a cleaner wax with a carnuba? IMO, should have done a dedicated polish followed by your carnuba? you would end up with a deeper gloss and the same protection. Just a thought |
