How worn is the clutch from my E90 330i (see attached images)?
Attached are several images of the clutch from my E90 330i after about 92K miles. The clutch was replaced because the dual mass flywheel failed and thus everything was replaced when the transmission and engine were separated.
Does anyone have any idea how worn this clutch looks/how many more miles I might have been able to get out of this clutch? Thanks so much. Cheers, Charlie |

Well it's not down to the rivets at least. I don't understand the feathering at the outer edge, what does the flywheel and pressure plate look like? Any blueing? The contact area doesn't look right to me; it looks like the inner portion of the clutch disk is not even contacting the pressure plate. Heck you have the clucth out now already, why not worry about it and drop in a new clutch kit, throwout bearing, and call it a day.

I had everything replaced (clutch, throwout bearing, flywheel).
The dual mass flywheel had a hole in it and had seized somehow. I suspect that this may explain the feathering on the clutch. Does anyone know how thick a new clutch plate is? This one is about 1mm thick (when just measuring the plates). |
