they are new and improved modules. the older module didnt have the built in idrive control. the new one does. if you have the old module it would cost 400 plus 85 for the adapter so you can change video with your idrive knob. group buy price is $425 shipped. i need at least 5 buyers.

Just to be clear on this....with this module you can play DVDs on your iDrive? How would you play tv (or can you not?) and about how much would a car audio/video shop charge to install this? Sorry for the ??s, but I'm thinking about getting this for my g/f and want to be sure I know what I'm getting into. Thanks Long

yes you can play dvds on your idrive with this mod witha dvd player. you can play tv also, but you would need a tv tuner. i asked 3 different car audio/video shops for quotes on an install and i got 3 different prices. i got quoted to install this module plus a half din dvd player. the price for one place was $600, another place was $500, and another place that was recommended by dom(owner or manager of tvandnav2go) quoted $325.

i decided to do the install myself. i just followed the DIY and pm'ed a few members for some pointers and help. i think almost anyone can do this if you are patient and follow directions carefully. i have installed this in my car and my buddy's red e90. i have a half din dvd player and a video ipod for my sources for movies.

you have to add in the dvd player to play dvd. this only allow you to use the idrive screen for viewing. you can use an ipod video, ps2, ps3, wii if you wanted to. you can watch tv by adding in a tv tuner. install is very easy to do. if you know how to install a stereo, you can do it yourself.

I thought you could play dvds with the idrive system, just need the module to allow it to play them. So the idrive just play dvd roms and not dvds?

What kind of dvd player would you recommend? tv tuner?

thanks for the advice.

i would use a half din dvd player. it small enough to put in the glove box. there are some regular size din player with built in tv tuner. i have something similar to this.

So these are designed to handle bumps in the road w/o skipping? How would a PS2 or PS3 handle bumps? Also, the tv tuner would basically act as an antenna for basic tv, right? would you have to subscibe to directtv or some other to get cable? Getting my g/f very excited about this. How soon are we looking at to have this at my door

my half din dvd player is fine if i hit a bump, but i try to avoid them. im sure a ps2 or ps3 might skip alittle if you hit bumps, but i think you should be fine. tv tuner would be for basic channels.

Can't we put this thread in the GB section as well? Or mark it as a GB perhaps
so that people take better notice? Just thinking...

Im pretty interested but want to make sure I would be getting the right unit for what I want to be able to do. Would it be possible with this unit to run headrest units in the back seat and be able to switch the front screen between the movie and say Nav, phone, etc while still showing the movie on the rear screens? What happens when bluetooth call comes in while watching a movie? Would the sound be coming from RF to a FM channel or is it directly throught he Logic-7?

How much would you charge for install for SoCal folks ?

for install i can recommend someone in the san gabriel valley area. i wouldnt mind installing it, but its too time consuming for me. they charge about 60 bucks for install.
