Non BMW Approved RFT tyres and motorplan

Hi guys,

Currently have horrible Continental Sport Contact 2 RFT's (225/45R17 all round) on my car and apart from being noisy and not really being that grippy, they tramline excessively!!

Replaced the front tyres which were older and fairly worn with Hankook S1 Evo RFT's - from the start these tyres were so much better. Quieter, grips better (wet and dry) and no traces of tramlining by comparison! Only criticism I had was that there was a fair amount of feathering on the shoulder near the treat patch.

But, local BMW agents are strict regarding BMW Approved tyres for motorplan to remain unaffected. Their argument, non BMW Approved tyres may cause damage to the suspension components and (even more crazy) the drivetrain. So removed the Hankook RFT's and bought a new pair of Continental SC2 RFT's which I fitted to the rear - moved the original rear Continental SC2 RFT's to the front which have done about 10k km so far. So back to noisy tramlining and a nervous twitchy ride.

Initially I was not pro RFT's but the time I had the Hankooks on they made a lot of sense, I reckon once my motorplan has ended I am going to upgrade to 18" Ellipsoids and just fit normal non-RFT Hankooks - put a space-saver in the boot...
