50k mile service on 335xi?

My car is at 53k mi, and my service light just came on. What does the dealer usually do for this service? Just an oil change? Should I actually go to the dealer for the service or just have an indy shop do an oil change?

If it's an oil change, don't go to the dealership unless they have a ridiculous sale going on with oil changes. It's better if you DIY, after buying the oil change kit from Tischer.

Your dash computer or idrive will tell you what's needed. See "Service Requirements" in your owners manual to access this info.

Bump again.
Is there anything else needed besides an oil change?
I'm at 48,000 and just changed the oil myself (out of warranty) and did the reset (It think) and it still says it needs service.

Anything else that needs to be done here? Or that I should reset to clear the SERVICE indicator?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
