Can I have michelin RFTs on front and Bridgestones on back?

I currently have 4 Bridgestone RFTs all around. The rears still have some wear left in them, but my fronts may need to be replaced. The front-right has a hole (happy about the run-flats) and the left has two bubbles. I have heard very good things about the Michelin PS2 RFTs, and wondering if I can mix brands, two Michelins in the front and two Bridgestones in the back?

I've had the opposite (two stones in front, two Michelin in rear). Obviously not ideal but u will be fine for street use.

Avoid mixing if at all possible due to unstable handling. If you have to mix, it would be preferable to have the better tires in the rear.

Thanks. I ended up going with the Michelins anyway. The Rears will probably be replaced in a few months, and the Michelins seem to be a far superior tire to the Bridgestones.

Until you match the rears to the fronts, I'd be very, very cautious in wet weather.

+1

Definitely replace those rears as soon as possible. The handling may be a bit unpredictable mixing different tires front and rear.

@Vector...how'd it go?

I'm in the same spot. Purchasing 4 new tires when only the fronts are worn out seems foolish (in fact I might have to get a new wife [she has learned to hate my sports packages over the years]). And I'm irritated enough by the "stones" to want to buy Michelins instead.

Anyway...How's your experience running a mixed bag?

I'm a bit skittish because I ignorantly mixed RFT fronts with non-RFT rears on my 545i at one point (that lasted about 36 hours) and scared the crap out of myself changing lanes on the highway at 90mph. That's an extreme case, but I'm worried about mixing performance characteristics and hoping that Michelin vs Bridgestone RFTs are close enough to avoid that kind of schizoid handling.
