Montego Blue 335i - Should I powder coat my stock sport wheels
Hey all , I just picked up a mint 07' 335 and want to dress it up a bit. I really enjoy the way the car performs on it's stock 18" sports but I feel they lack that aggressive look. I have a friend who powder coated his sport wheels on his 370 and they look really good.
I was thinking of going gloss black, since the interior is black and I think it matches the spirit of the car. Any suggestions? |

I prefer the silver. I think that it provides a contrast to the dark paint. However, If I really wanted to change something, I would go with gunmetal rather than black. The detail on your wheels would be completely lost with black, IMHO.
If you go with black, you should go all the way and black out all your chrome trim too. |

Or go with a 10mm rear spacer. That's what I did and it makes the stance look much better.
Heck yes. You'd have to find another set when you want to sell the car. |

Congrats! Montego is a great color.
I like where you are going with your question...but like others have said, powdercoating your wheels is not a good idea. A set of aftermarket 19" gunmetal wheels would look absolutely sick on your car! Check out VMR VB3's (it's a CSL replica, and you can buy them powdercoated gunmetal). You can pick up a set for like $800 and then get much better performance tires (as compared with those dreaded runflats) for around $800...all in $1,600 and then you can store your stock wheels/tires for when you part with your car. The runflats alone costs around $1,600 to replace so going this route may actually save you a few bucks down the road.

I think the wheels are great in Silver. If you want a more agressive look, you should consider some 19" mesh style wheels. Alufelgen's SF-71 are nice looking reps for reasonable money, but there are a lot of alternatives.

well I hate stock painted wheels... makes me think they have been damaged or the clearcoat is peeling and someone is trying to hide something.. I think it really cheapens the car up in looks.. and will defintely affect resale no question... I'd definately upgrade to bigger wheels btw, just my preference... nice car though btw so make it stand out from the crowd...

I really like silver or gunmetal on Montego Blue. Good advice!

Gunmetal on Montego is just sex. Works so well.
