Poor poor vmr
I purchased a set of 18\" v701\'s about 3 months ago finally got the installed on my e90 and sure enough while under normal driving conditions hit 2 potholes on two different occasions. And sue enough 2 bent rims. I wish I would have saved up a couple extra bucks and bought a quality product.... Btw they refuse to warranty my wheels and are offering half off on a new set.....

Hearing a lot of people bending VMR wheels..
depending on the potholes, a stronger wheel, like a forged wheel, may or may not have helped. It depends on the hole, speed, etc, etc. I don't understand why they would be warrantied at all? If you were driving and DIDN'T hit potholes, and the wheels bent for some reason, then yes I agree you should get new wheels for free. However, since YOU hit the pothole, why should they cover it? If you hit a tree in your car, does BMW cover your car? Not knocking VMR wheels, but there are many other, stronger choices out there.

Look in to Avant Garde, They are stronger and lighter (low pressure cast) and go for the same cost as a VMR does.
Although I never bent either of the 2 sets of VB3's ive owned, but it can happen on any wheel, no matter how expensive or strong - 3000lbs into a pothole is a lot of energy.. |

I've been told the forged wheels ie BBS etal while stronger, will break before bending!

not enough info to call it (pothole size?) but I'm surprised VMR is giving you 50% off on replacement. That's nice of them, considering in the 'ideal world' where you live the responsible party should be the city council or owners of the road... not the manufacturer of tyres.
If you live in area with sh.tty roads, no point to buy big rims. That's what I did anyway. And btw, OZ is a quality rim, not surprised it held up better in your experience. I think they're not far off BBS really. Superleggeras are nice and light.

Ive bent my old Rota's on my civic on a pothole before. Iv'e bent my old Volk LE28's on my Z on a similar pothole before. It's obvious that any wheel can bend under pressure that its not mean to stand, such as smacking into a pothole.
It sucks that your wheels bent, but at least the next set set will be half off, which is very generous of VRM imo. If I were in your position I would most certainly take advantage of the 50% off, it's not like they bent/cracked under regular driving, hell even tracking the car, like aftermarket wheels are meant to do. |

Warranty doesn't cover potholes. Extremely generous by the mfg to offer a sizeable discount on a new set.

They are still cast knockoffs, albiet better construction than most reps. I cracked my CS-7's, but all wheels can bend or crack.
Like Pcemkr said, do it right the first time. I went with some forged Morr VS8.2's after those.
