I REFUSE!

... to put snow tires on in October. Is this a bad trick or a nasty treat?

Anyone have their snow shoes on this early?

Agreed! WTF. WE even have frozen preciptation here in central Virginia. I was going to do trans and diff fluid changes on my Wife's Z3 and my E90 today. Hard to warm up drivetrain oil in 30 deg weather! At least my garage is heated...

Im going to wait until thankgiving weekend to put on the snow tires on my 335i (unless father winter decides to come in early). Looking at the forecast for the next several days in Jersey, it is going to be in the 60's again after this weekend. I just changed the OEM RFT that came with the car with Michelin Pilot Sports Max summer non-RFT and couldn't be happier with the ride .

One problem with global warning is the unpredictability of the climate oscillations.

Here in the DC burbs at Noon, the rain has stopped without turning to snow - so far....

I just put my snow shoes on today. Been getting low temp warnings all week in the mornings and figured I'd better do it sooner rather then later.

I refuse as well.

My rule of thumb is first week of sustained 40 degree days or lower.

Fortunately where I am it'll mostly be rain.

It's frozen water shat that us northerners suffer with. It would similar to your margarita maker blowing up and spreading shaved ice everywhere.

I broken down a couple weeks ago. Stupid temps were getting below freezing, and didn't feel comfortable driving with the summer slicks on.

Of course, after a couple days of cold, and me swapping the winter tires on, mercury stayed in t-shirt weather for another week.

I didn't really bother with doing that (mostly because I'm an extremely lazy person), though I felt like I should've done that (even if it would be for a few days) after driving in some areas of NY and NJ today - the stock BMW tires that came with my car (Bridgestone EL42 RFT) are just really, really awful for anything except clear roads. The car can move on clear road surface just fine BUT starts to "hydroplane" very easily when even a little bit of partially melted snow mix gets below the tires, which is especially annoying when you're trying to carefully pass some retard who has no need to drive in such weather at all and who doesn't know how to do it properly yet continues to "crawl" at 15 mph in a 35 mph zone, occupying the only completely cleared line on the road (it's even worse on a highway)...

Look 'ma, no snow tires!

I'm never doing this again by the way (driving rear wheel in the middle of a snow storm on all season tires). I had to go into work this morning, storm closed in on us early, and I was pretty much forced to drive back home in the middle of this mess. Otherwise, I would have stayed home with my feet up to the fireplace!
