Looking for some track rims

So I have recently started to track my car. I'm looking for a set of track wheels so that I don't eat up my road tires/rims. I want to run 255/40 on a 17x9 rim, square setup. After some research, I found out that not all 17s clear the front brake on an e92 335i. Any suggestions? I want a lightweight 17x9 track rim that won't break the budget. I have been looking at Enkei PF01/RPF1. Also what sort of offset to I get with a square setup so that it doesn't look funky? Thanks in advance.

I'm running them on my car, only in 18x8.5". Still very light.
They only come in et40, so I'm running a 5mm spacer front and rear. Not rubbing issues using 235/40 BFG R1.

Thanks for the info. Did you try running RPF1s in 17? I want to get 17s because tires are cheaper. Planning on running R comps that don't last long.

ET40. No rubbing whatsoever. Tire costs add up quickly at the track, 17s are indeed the cost-effective solution for our cars.

The OP on the first link I included is about to try 255/40 square on his coupe, and there are a couple of other examples of 255s fitting ok (under specific circumstances).

Sweet, I'm probably going to pick up a set of Koseis soon. Where did you purchase your set?

tirerack

To find them, you'll need to select 328i coupe as your car, don't know why, it's a tirerack thing...

Interesting... I was wondering why I couldn't find them after entering my car. Thanks for all the help.

Is it possible to fit a 255/40 tire on the 17x8.5 koseis? I know that the recommended tire for 8.5s are 245. Does tirerack carry some 17x9 koseis?

I never tried them in 17" because I wanted to make sure that I could clear my brakes (Stoptech).

As a side note for R-comps.
I work on the Bimmerworks race team and we run 18" OZ wheels.
The tires are BFGoodrich R1, 265/35 square. Yes, they do rub slightly in the front, but there is no wear on the tire due to the rubbing.
At the 12 hour race in April, we ran for 7 hours straight on the same set of R1's and they still weren't worn out.

Yes, it's possible, the question is will they rub in the front. dsbj is about to try 255s on Koseis on this thread, we'll find out soon enough.

AFAIK, there's no 17x9 K1, only 17x8.5

That's a good point, the Koseis will clear (barely) the front stock calipers but not aftermarket brakes.
