Spray on clear bra?

I was just talking to a detailers and he told me about a "spray on" clear bra. He wouldn't tell me what the company was but he said he liked it so much he was thinking about taking off the clear bra off his 6 series to put the spray on. He said that you could try to "key" the car wouldn't get through the clear bra. Anyone heard of this? Any thoughts?

You talking about this stuff?? For $9.95....I'm not to sure I'd rely on this too heavily. Real skeptical on this one.

Shield, from Dupli-Color, provides temporary spray-on protection for your vehicle where bugs and road grime can do damage. It’s ideal for the front end, rear quarter panel and rocker panels. Spray on Shield as a temporary bra for long road trips, quick mud flaps or as a bug guard. Shield sprays on easily and dries in less than a minute. And best of all, it stays on until you wash it off. You can power wash it off or use soap and water. Rain, snow or moisture in the air won’t affect it. This product leaves no residue on a vehicle’s paint. Give your vehicle the protection that it deserves with Shield.

Not that stuff. My understanding is that this is a true clearbra that would last as long as the film. He said it would cost a little more than the regular clearbra but was going to call me back with the estimate.

There is something call Rain-X bug & tag protective shield and it works great but is temporaly you apply it after every car wash and should last a weak or so. is great I use it all the time.

Sorry to bring this thread back but has anyone tried the above spray? I have an interview for a summer internship in Cleveland next week (an hour and a half trip) and I was thinking of spraying some of this on before I leave. I usually never drive on the freeway and when I do I get tons of bug splatter and am paranoid of getting rock chips. I just wanted to make sure this stuff is safe before I try it. Thanks!

This stuff has some pretty aggressive solvents in it (acetone, methyl acetate) so I don't think I'll be spraying on my hood any time soon.

i was just wondering since i need to make a long drive soon. i also didn't think it would be worth gettin the real thing until i get a new bimmer instead of putting one on my 2000 E46. i am starting to think maybe putting a few coats of wax on the front before i leave will work just as good???

If you're going to have your e46 for a while why not get the old vinyl bra for those types of trips? That's what I used to do for my e46.

the spray on bra that you can buy off the shelves don't work that well, i think Car and Driver did a review on it and they said that it take like 2 hours just to tape off all the areas of the bonnet and bumper before you can actually start applying the spray on bra, and then when they drive though the lightest or rainy weather, the bra will start peeling on places on the bra, which is stupid...but i guess if you are driving through Arizona would alright....

i was actually considering that since they are not too expensive i don't think. my only concern is what if its raining and the car is dirty before i leave? i would never put one of those things on a dirty car, especially a dirty black car! But if I get this job and have to live in Cleveland for the summer then i'll look into one for sure.

^^^That would be the cheapest method for sure. But if I get this job I don't know if I want the painters tape all summer lol. It's still an option though.

Does anyone know where I can get a vinyl bra for cheap? BavAuto has them for $140 so it looks like my best option for now is the painters tape.
