I was told I can take a January build slot with a Febuary delivery.

Probably not true. Announcement is in London in November, launch in March in Geneva. Euro sales start in March. US sales in summer.

I cannot see BMW leaving theirselves without a 3 series sedan for that long of a stretch since the E90 goes stops production the end of October. I was told that by a reputable source about production and delivery.

Sorry boss, you were told wrong. Production ends in October, which means the final deliveries will be occurring through the end of December and into January. If dealers stock up a bit, they'll only need an extra month or so of inventory, they do it all the time.

Correct. That's exactly what they'll do to cover the gap from October to next Spring - stock pile.

BMW execs have been quoted as saying they are going to produce a bunch of extra e9x cars before the stop production and stockpile inventory to last until they start getting enough volume of the new model.

I would not be surprised if BMW still has old model cars not delivered to dealers after dealers start getting the first of the new model.

i could i see that if October was the end of MY11 production and MY12 (F30) starts arriving to the US in spring (April-ish)....but now the rumor mills are saying the F30 doesn't hit shoreside until the summer (late May/early June)? is BMW really going to hold out on one of its biggest markets and not allow us to order a 3 series sedan for 6+ months?

if so, i am porked. my current lease expires in April '12 and i was hoping to replace my Zed 4 with an F30.

Sometime around summer, July'ish from what I've heard on the forum. I'll be right there next to you for the F30!

This timing is not good, my lease ends late Feb '12.

I feel your pain. Was banking on F30 being here by spring, but that doesn't seem likely. And on top of that, MY2012 is a short year and xDrive is delayed until the MY2013's in late summer 2012. I have a hard time buying the MY2012 without xDrive and (if history serves us right) without the newest iteration of the N55 motor.
