What style are these wheels
Took a chance and just bought these 17 inch alloys cheap for winter wheels- but cannot identity the style. They look like style 73s if so an ET of 47 doesnt work. They are meant to be off an E36 and I trying to establish the ET and if they will fit my E92. But if they are not genuine it gives me a get out.
What do you reckon? Regards Last edited by fulcrum; 08-23-2011 at 09:42 AM.. |

Standard 19" E92 rear wheels are 9J x 19" with an ET39 offset.
The Style 73s are 7J with a greater offset of ET47 That means the Style 73 wheel is 50.8mm narrower overall than the regular E92 rear wheel, or 25.4mm narrower each side of the wheel centreline. Because it has a greater ET of 8mm, the wheel will end up sitting 32.4mm further in towards the car if viewed down the side of the door. To get the wheel to an acceptable track width, you would need a 20-25mm spacer, which is not ideal at all, or a 7J x 17" wheel with an approximate ET20 offset! Therefore, no, it doesn't work! Ideally you want an 8Jx17" wheel with an ET34 offset

They look like style 187 radial alloys but I can't tell from the angle. There is a slight curve on the spokes at the perimeter of the wheel in the real thing.
If they are style 187 then they are 8" x 17" with the correct off-set. Here's a photo of them. |
