if you stay near the airport, you should be good getting a hotel for 50-60 bucks @ least 3 stars and then getting a car to drive conveniently to SF. SF to airport is a short 12-15min ride. Good luck! |

I second the priceline recommendation. I've regulary gotten 4* in Union Square and Financial District zones for 100-120 after tax & fees. The airport is pretty far South (20min) so I'd recommend getting a room somewhere in downtown if you'll be staying out late. Best deals happen just before you go. I usually bid 5 days out, but sometimes day of. Big discounts during weekends. Usually 5 or 7pm is the cutoff for booking that day.
Don't forget to check out local parking garage rates (yelp, etc) since hotel parking is $40/night usually. I don't go out much, but I like a cocktail at the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel, check it out. Marina District & Little Italy (Columbus Ave) have lots of bars. I think the clubs are more in the Mission Dist. Try to avoid the Tenderloin Dist & Market St. if you can, it can get pretty dangerous. Last edited by tahoerdr; 08-03-2011 at 01:30 AM.. |

The hilton at union square was pretty decent for the price. I think one time I paid around $150 per night and was walking distance to the shopping area, restaurants, etc..

being that the bay area has awesome public transportation you could always stay on the outskirts like burlingame, lots of hotels due to SFO. bart can bring you into the city. and youre still not far from the city at all. you can even take cal trains down and youre allowed to drink on cal trains too.

I stayed at the Hilton around $130/night.. and that was 4th of july weekend.
I would def look into public parking...Hilton was charging $56/24 hour parking... so every 24 hours you are chaged $56...Crazy huh! Hilton is litterly right outside of union square and all the shopping areas.. I would leave your car parked somehwere as the transportation is decent as someone posted earlier.. Enjoy.. I know you will have a blast as i did... SF is my second home (my brothers live out there)!

I live in the downtown union square area. The Donatello hotel is good. I park my bimmer next door. Daily parking is cheap for hotel guests with in and out privileges.

Asians
If you're looking for good clubs for that Asian fever. Basically, go anywhere. Haha. Ruby Skye is a huge one, kinda jersey shoreish though. Uh, but pretty much everywhere you go here, there will be Asian girls hand over fist.
